Vivid Prophet says he's had a great few months and has been working really hard. Their album @ Rest in God was released in September with some good press and stateside airplay following. He's now working on a number of new drum'n'bass/breakbeat tracks for his next release as well as looking to take the material into a live setting soon. There are MP3s on his website.
The organisers tell us that this year's grassrootz festival is going to be bigger and better than last year's huge success - around 2000 people are expected to attend this year's one day festival in Kent on 20th July from noon til 10pm. Acts so far booked include YFriday, Steve, My BottleRockit, Cashu, My Kid Sister etc as well as poet Stewart Henderson and Escapologist Steve Legg, and there will also be a range of stalls and other activities.
YFriday are to release their song "Head Over Heels" as a mainstream single on October 15th. Unlike recent mainstream singles from bands like Delirious, this single is intended as a worship track and is being released by an established Christian label: Survivor/Kingsway. The single will be released on an enhanced CD, containing a video and a remix of "Closer" from the band's first album Rainmaker.

More details soon.

Skinflowers' Easter Monday concert at the new Mean Fiddler (formerly the LA2) in London is now available in full with stereo sound and high quality video through this link. The band continue to work on their second album.
As well as headling Greenbelt the Dum Dums hope that this year will see the release of their second album. The first release spawned four top 30 hits and with an increasing international profile they hope to surpass that with the followup. The Dum Dums will also be playing at a Unison benefit show in Manchester next month with Toploader, Catatonia, Idlewild and Wheatus.

Martyn Joseph will be joining up with poet friend Stewart Henderson and Christian Aid's Martin Drewry for a special tour at the end of April/beginning of May. The tour which kicks off in Scotland and then travels all round the UK before finishing off on Guernsey is described on Martyn's website as: 'A montage of songs, music, poems and images that convey struggle, hope of the celebration of life and approaches development work in the poorest communitites through the arts. A show in which the edges are blurred and the audience catches glimpses of the way things are, the way things could be, and how they can make a difference'.

The band still features original members Andy Jennings and Tom Livemore and they're joined by Collin Burton and Dave Odart on drums. An all new website is now up for The Tribe. It's flash-based, takes a while to download and seems to have a few bugs at the moment but maybe you'll have more success loading it. Alliance Music are planning a new compilation of World Wide Message Tribe tunes, focussing on their more laid back numbers. The album, called Chilled is due for release next month. The Innervation Trust will begin operations on February 1st, and the work of Shine and V-Enna will fall under that banner.

Word has it that the World Wide Message Tribe is no more. With the departure of Cameron Dante to his DJing work, Claire's move towards overseas mission, Collette's new role training evangelists and Deronda's return to the USA, the remaining members have decided to refocus their work and change the group's name to The Tribe. Innervation is a new initiative bringing together the management company Kik-Start, the record label Movation and other groups to form schools outreach bands across the country. Initially working with Shine and V-Enna, the organisation's plans include forming a number of "clone" bands who will share the same material in order to spread resources across the country. The organisation, which will be headed by Mark Pennells (ex-WWMT and now manager of Kik-Start), record producer Zarc Porter (Perfect Music/Movation), Rob White (a baptist minister in Manchester, formerly with YFC) and George Petch. You can discuss this initiative on our "bands" discussion board.
The World Wide Message Tribe have a busy few weeks coming up. Tonight they have a city-wide gig and have sent invites to all the schools in Manchester. For the rest of the week the group will be in Belfast at another schools event which will also feature Graham Kendrick and former WWMT member Deronda K Lewis. After that they're off to Azerbaijan with Operation Christmas Child before returning for the Christmas Planet Life with Phatfish and Cameron Dante.

Britlinks is looking for some volunteers to help with a couple of aspects of keeping the website up to date. The first thing we need help with is checking through other websites and a lot of e-mails to keep the gig guide comprehensive. The other part of the site that we are looking for someone for is the record labels section. If you're interested in either of these roles, please e-mail webmaster@britlinks.co.uk with some information about yourself.

The band will be using the rest of this year to prepare a new album which they hope to begin recording towards the end of the year as well as fitting in their annual trip to Christmas Rock Night in Germany. David Lyon, the band's accordion player, has departed to work on solo projects.
The most observant among you may have noticed that over the last few days the gig guide and discussion boards have both been revamped. The gig guide is slightly tidier and behind the scenes its been considerably enhanced so we can bring more user-friendly e-mail updates. The discussion boards are using a new program called Phorum which we think makes them much easier to use and also adds some new facilities. Check them out and let us know what you think.
More changes are afoot for the World Wide Message Tribe. Cameron Dante is leaving the tribe to pursue his new venture, Ascension, and Doronda Lewis is also leaving the Tribe to pursue a solo career. Her debut album is currently being recorded with producer Matt Wanstall.

They're disappointednot to be able to be at Greenbelt but a top slot at thisfestival drew them away. The band are still preparing forthe US release of Seasider which will include fournew tracks.
Britlinks is looking for a volunteer assistant to work on keeping our gig guide up to date and comprehensive. The site continues to develop quickly, with more new features planned for the coming months, and the support of someone to check bands' websites and ensure gigs are entered in the gig guide would be extremely helpful in keeping the site moving forward. Applicants should be at ease with the web and internet in general and be familiar with Britlinks. E-mail webmaster@britlinks.co.uk for more information.
