Word UK have announced the launch of a new imprint called Focus. The new label is intended to be a "home for the best contemporary Christian music in the UK and Europe today" and will initially be the launchpad for Phatfish, RiverDeep and Norway's Salvation Street who make their UK debut at this year's Greenbelt festival. The label will be headed up by Word UK's music manager, Shelley Needham and will be launched with a gig in Milton Keynes on August 31st. There seems to have been renewed investment in the UK scene from several major players recently, and the launch of Focus comes soon after news of Alliance's signing of Kindle and ICC's launch of their Elevation label.
Sibling are hoping to record an EP very soon. Cross Rhythms are reporting that River Deep will be releasing a new album, "Someone Like Me" on Word this June. Engage Management are releasing 'Existence', a three track offering from DJ Doug E Ross along with Samuel Ljungkvist and Dave Williams.
Tim Sherrington has begun revising his album Undone ready for its re-release on Kingsway later this year. Simon Goodall has launched an all new website. Simon's soon to release a short video and has two tracks included on this year's Spring Harvest albums. Goldsmiths have also recently unveiled a new website and are currently recording an EP followup to their IKnowYouKnow album, due for release later this year. deeperwiderhigher wrote this week's notes for the word-on-the-web.co.uk bible reading notes -- in coming weeks notes will be written by members of Shine and Sue Rinaldi.
deeperwiderhigher have secured a residency at the RSVP Bar in Sheffield which will see them playing six gigs at the venue over the next few months. The band are currently on the lookout for some new members and ask anyone interested in playing "smoothurbanjazzfunkfusion" in an evangelistic setting to get in touch with them.
Okay, well that's just because I think that the dove awards are a scandal. Delirious? have been nominated for three of these CCM awards, "Best Group," "Best Song" for "Deeper", and "Best Rock Album" for King Of Fools. They're up against stiff opposition in both categories from established CCM names, but we'll just have to wait and see. The guys recently picked up the award for album of the year in Dallas' first CCM awards ceremony, having been nominated for four awards.
