Leeds based Bodixa have had to change their name to star*bodixa. They say that this is because a London based band called Boedekka have recently released a single/EP which has caused some confusion. Bodixa sought legal advice but decided that since Boedekka have some commercial advantage it would be advisable to change their name to avoid confusion.
Bodixa, who are currently in the middle of a national universities tour, have signed a five album deal with an independent label. The band will begin recording very early in the new year ready for an album release in March or April, and associated single releases.
Revive are just about to start recording a new album for ICC. The working title of the album is Neither Work Nor Leisure and they hope that it will retain some of the alt. dance influences of their debut, Beautiful Day while moving more into the rock mainstream. The group have 20 tracks demo-ed already which a band spokesman said "range in style from Dido to Rage Against the Machine to Lamb". The band share a number of members with indie-popsters Bodixa and the new album will be produced by their producer.
U2 have finally announced european dates for their Elevation Tour. They'll be playing in Manchester, Birmingham, London and Slane during August. Bodixa recently returned to the stage and were recently invited to take part in the Mean Fiddler's 'live on line' night in London. It looks likely that one of their tracks will appear on a compilation CD put out by Uglyman Records (Elbow, I Am Kloot). Simon Cooper has a new album out called Music of the Womb and is working on a best-of. The guys who used to be in Why? have a new bass player called Ron and are hoping to debut their new act at Spring Harvest, although that has yet to be confirmed.
Leeds' Bodixa are out on tour at the moment with some new merchandise, including t-shirts designed by rhythm guitarist Emily and a five track CD recorded as a demo but available to fans at their concerts.
Leeds-based Bodixahave made their way to the final of the nationalUnsigned/Unsealed band contest, having won the online votingand their heat at London's Borderline last week. They nowcompete with the three other finalists at the Borderline onthe 8th September.
Leeds act Bodixa have recently been short-listed to the final 16 out of 1000 bands who entered the "Unsigned/Unsealed" competition sponsored by Warner Chappell and the Princes Trust which aims to bring young talent before record label representatives. The band will take their place in the finals at London's Borderline on September 4th. The Leeds-based band have also recently secured a monthly residency at the Lil' Backyard Club in London and are planning a university tour and a short tour of Borders bookshops for later in the year.
Sundays-influenced Bodixa have just completed a new demo and are preparing for two forthcoming London showcases at the Lil' Backyard Club on Gt. Portland Street. Check out the gig guide for more details.
No word as yet on the rumoured major record deal for Bodixa, but the band have been in touch to say they recently returned to the live scene after some months locked away in a studio. The band's last single, the double a-sided "Waiting For You"/"Rivers" reached number 13 in the English and Scottish student airplay charts and is still a-listed on some regional radio stations. A follow-up single should emerge soon.
Leed's up-and-coming Bodixa seem set to sign a significant record deal very soon and are busy working on new material in preparation. The band played a successful showcase in London a few months back and have been gigging hard. More details as soon as we get them.
