U2's Beautiful Match (23rd Apr 2001)

U2 are set to rework"Beautiful Day" the first single from their current album,All That You Can't LeaveBehind as the title tune for football show Match ofthe Day in its new ITV format. The band have added someextra UK dates this summer, but all dates sold out withinhours of going on sale.

Tidbits (07th Mar 2001)

U2 have finally announced european dates for their Elevation Tour. They'll be playing in Manchester, Birmingham, London and Slane during August. Bodixa recently returned to the stage and were recently invited to take part in the Mean Fiddler's 'live on line' night in London. It looks likely that one of their tracks will appear on a compilation CD put out by Uglyman Records (Elbow, I Am Kloot). Simon Cooper has a new album out called Music of the Womb and is working on a best-of. The guys who used to be in Why? have a new bass player called Ron and are hoping to debut their new act at Spring Harvest, although that has yet to be confirmed.

U2 and Juliet Turner Big Winners (23rd Feb 2001)

U2 won their expected clutch of awards and Juliet Turner showed strongly in the annual readers' poll in Ireland's top music magazine, Hot Press. Juliet was third in the album of the year category behind U2 and The Corrs, fourth in the female vocalist category behind Samantha Mumba, Sinead O'Connor and Andrea Corr. She also came fifth in the songwriter section, won by Bono, polling more votes than Paul Brady, Neil Hannon and Andrea Corr. Bono picked up the best male vocalist award and U2 were voted "Best Irish Group". U2 are set to play in the UK and Ireland this summer, and Juliet Turner is expected to return to the UK mainland in May supporting the Byrds' Roger McGuinn although we're still awaiting confirmation of that.

U2 Back (31st Jan 2001)

U2, who this week release their latest single to the UK singles market - "Stuck In A Moment (You Can't Get Out Of)" - have confirmed that they will be playing an "intimate" (if you can call a 2000 capacity venue intimate) show at the London Astoria on the 7th February. Tickets are available through a variety of competitions. The band will be playing in the UK in June as part of their "Elevation Tour".

The Pope in Shades (29th Sep 1999)

U2's Bono met with the Pope last week as part of a group representing the Jubilee 2000coalition. The Pontif was apparently delighted when the star handed him his sunglasses. Jubilee 2000 is calling for the leaders of the G7 group of leading industrial nations to meet again before the New Year to agree the cancellation of third world debts.
