In what appears to be a strange coincidence, both Shine and V-Enna have announced plans to split. The two girl groups had also formed around the same time and purveyed similar brands of "pure pop". Shine's latest album Keep On Moving had just been released in the UK and its planned US release has now been cancelled -- the band are said to feel "called to pastures new" and it is unclear what will now happen to the Shine Trust who operated their evangelistic work in Milton Keynes and who recently issued a press release saying they would not be continuing to employ the band due to the desire of three members to move on, or their operations manager. V-Enna say their split is due to family commitments following the marriage of Lucy Britten to Tribe member Linz.
Shine MK are putting the finishing touches to their second album which is set to release in the USA on September 11th. European launch dates have not yet been set. The band, along with producer Zarc Porter, have moved their sound in a more RnB/UK garage direction.

Shine's "Do It Right" is up for "rap/hip-hop/dance recorded song of the year" and the album of the same name is up for "rap/hip-hop/dance album of the year". Justin Thomas, formerly of HOG, has been at Perfect Music recently working with Zarc Porter on new material for The Tribe and Shine. The next Shine album is due out in the Spring and is being produced by Zarc Porter and Todd Collins. It is said to be edgier than their debut, with some garage and r+b influences. Justin Thomas has been appearing with worship act Revive who hope to start work on a follow up to their Beautiful Day album before too long.
An all new website is now up for The Tribe. It's flash-based, takes a while to download and seems to have a few bugs at the moment but maybe you'll have more success loading it. Alliance Music are planning a new compilation of World Wide Message Tribe tunes, focussing on their more laid back numbers. The album, called Chilled is due for release next month. The Innervation Trust will begin operations on February 1st, and the work of Shine and V-Enna will fall under that banner.
Innervation is a new initiative bringing together the management company Kik-Start, the record label Movation and other groups to form schools outreach bands across the country. Initially working with Shine and V-Enna, the organisation's plans include forming a number of "clone" bands who will share the same material in order to spread resources across the country. The organisation, which will be headed by Mark Pennells (ex-WWMT and now manager of Kik-Start), record producer Zarc Porter (Perfect Music/Movation), Rob White (a baptist minister in Manchester, formerly with YFC) and George Petch. You can discuss this initiative on our "bands" discussion board.
