The Electrics have signed with Plietigier Records in Germany and will soon begin recording at Sammy Horner's home studio with producer Phil Madeira, who also worked on the band's last release. Sammy will also be recording a follow up to his Ceilidh Electric album with Tony Silcock of Psalmistry and is planning another childrens' album at some point. As if that weren't enough work, Sammy's also planning to set up his own label at some point in the near future.
The Electrics have had to put their planned tour of Europe on hold until March/April 2001 as a result of complications with the dates. The band will be using the rest of this year to prepare a new album which they hope to begin recording towards the end of the year as well as fitting in their annual trip to Christmas Rock Night in Germany. David Lyon, the band's accordion player, has departed to work on solo projects.
Among the latest batch of bookings for Germany's Christmas Rock Night is the seemingly omni-present delirious?. The boys from Littlehampton will make their German debut headlining the Friday night, and will be joined over the weekend by the Electrics, Split Level, and Sammy Horner (presenting his celtic praise live show). ICC are hoping to ship the live compilation recorded at last year's event by the end of this month.
Sammy Horner is currently preparing to take his latest Celtic Praise album on the road. Accompanying Sammy on the tour will be a number of other musicians, including Shona MacDonald. There will be dates in England and Northern Ireland as well as Scotland. Despite some interest in the albums from the US, they have yet to receive distribution over there.
Electrics frontman Sammy Horner has a new album coming out through Word any time now. Horner has taken ideas from his series of Celtic Praise albums, and combining them with techno programming to produce what promises to be an intriguing fusion.
