Mark Cocks, former guitarist with Ripcord, has been in touch to let us know that that band's website has recently been relaunched with the entirety of their recorded output available for download. Mark has recently been working with Psalmistry providing live guitar for their set as well as with Quench and various other artists.
Almost immediately after releasing their new album Icons Be Bygones, Ripcord have announced that they're taking a break to regroup and begin looking for a record deal to help them acheive a wider reach for their music. The band closed the current stage of their journey with a farewell gig at Oxford's Zodiac, supported by Psalmistry. The new album has so far shifted around 750 units within two weeks of release.
Ripcord's second albumIcons Be Bygones is now available via mail order, atgigs and through Virgin Megastores in Oxford. The band saythat this new release is "vastly superior to its predecessorin terms of quality and production".
Ripcord visited their tenth country recently with a three week tour of Norway. The band are now focussing on the UK for a while, with a gig at Spring Harvest and a home appearance in Oxford taking highest priority. The band are also planning to record again soon but want to quash any rumours that they might be signing with Furious? Records.
Ripcord, an evangelistic band who play mainly to students, are currently looking for a full time sound engineer to join them for at least a year. The band have a full schedule lined up for the coming months, kicking off on October 8th at Bristol University and taking them as far afield as Latvia and Slovakia.
Oxford-based Ripcord will be holding auditions soon for a keyboard player, female vocalist and sound engineer. The outreach band are rumoured to have been in talks with Furious? Records, but that has not been confirmed by either party.
