Christmas Rock (10th Oct 2002)

Plans for a scaled down version of the planned "Christmas Rock Night" in London this autumn appear to be going ahead, with news of 7 events over the weekend of 6/7/8 December at London's Garage venue. YMCA and Asylum will be working together for a night on December 8th which will feature Steve, Psalmistry, Fire Fly, Kosher, Xphere, V-12, Axlanbay and Zedisforzebra. It looks like Fono will be returning to the UK for one of the events, and other acts said to be appearing include hotly tipped bands Elviss and Reuben.

Psalmistry Record Again (01st Oct 2002)

Psalmistry are starting work on their third album, though there is no news on distribution as yet. The band say they are looking into the possibility of a deal with an american label or possibly putting the record out independently. They've recently updated their website with a few concert dates and a diary of their summer's activities.

Psalmistry's Festivals (02nd Jul 2002)

Psalmistry have announced that they are definitely going to be at the Cornerstone festival in the USA this weekend and will also be doing their first ever Chicago date while over there. They are also set to play at the Ashton Court Festival from July 21-22 in Bristol, where they will join a number of local bands on outdoor stages. From there, it's on to Greenbelt.

Acoustic Breakbeat? (01st May 2002)

Breakbeat rockers Psalmistry tell us they will be attempting to play a small acoustic set at Wesley Owen, Park St, Bristol tomorrow. They say it will feature many songs they never usually play live and will start at 4pm. The group are keeping busy with gigs at the moment and look set to cross the Atlantic this summer, having been pencilled in for Cornerstone Festival in the States on 6th July. They promise news on their new album soon.

Psalmistry News (15th Mar 2002)

Busy times in the Psalmistry camp. Tony Silcott (a.k.a. The Psalmist) has been recording and producing a range of other artists in his studio including "MC Dred" who came down with BBC cameras to film the proceedings, Eskimo Sunbed and Dropknee whose single is being profiled on XFm. Tony's debut vinyl release - RSTJ "Selecta" is reportedly receiving critical acclaim in underground reviews. Meanwhile, Psalmistry have added a guitarist to their live set. Mark Cocks, formerly of Ripcord, has been playing with the band since Greenbelt 2001. The group have recently been back in the studio working on the follow up to their All This Noise album. They promise that the new album will have "a massive new sound"

Secret Archives Dust Off Single (20th Aug 2001)

Secret Archives of the Vatican are preparing for the release of their new album 400 Prophets with the launch of 50 minute single, Dust: the remixes. Containing eight different mixes of the track, kicked off by one from Psalmistry, the archivers promise that the CD will bring "banging tribal dance music screaming into your home". You can catch Secret Archives as part of the hip-hop events at Greenbelt this weekend.

Glorious Technicolour - Hip Hop at Greenbelt (13th Jul 2001)

This year's Greenbelt Festival will feature a night showcasing the best in British Christian hip-hop. The night, presented by Glorious Technicolour, will feature contributions from DJs Paul Servier (Royal Priest), Tony Silcock (Psalmistry) and Trevor Loveys (2nd Nature, House of 808) along with MCs MinistriOfDefence, Edi Johnston and others. The team will also be providing break-dancing demonstrations and workshops and some open mic opportunities.

Elevation Showcase (13th Jun 2001)

Gloucester Guildhall will be the location for a specialshowcase for the new Elevation label and the Greenbeltfestival. The event, which takes place on Juky 27th willfeature Kato, BottleRockit, Psalmistry and Skinflowers. For moredetails check out our gigguide.

Elevation Showcase (13th Apr 2001)

Billing itself as "the new home of Britain's alternative Christian music", ICC's new Elevation label have announced plans for a showcase event at Gloucester Guildhall in July featuring Kato, BottleRockit and Psalmistry. Kato's Welcome To My World has been selling well at Spring Harvest and BottleRockit's new single, See You In Space Tonight single has just released as a taster for the album due later in the year. Kato and BottleRockit will be supporting All Star United in London in May and are both booked for this year's Greenbelt festival.

Electrics Recording Again (30th Jan 2001)

The Electrics have signed with Plietigier Records in Germany and will soon begin recording at Sammy Horner's home studio with producer Phil Madeira, who also worked on the band's last release. Sammy will also be recording a follow up to his Ceilidh Electric album with Tony Silcock of Psalmistry and is planning another childrens' album at some point. As if that weren't enough work, Sammy's also planning to set up his own label at some point in the near future.

Psalmistry Line-Up Change (06th Nov 2000)

Psalmistry are on the look-out for a new vocalist after Debbie announced she felt God leading her to work more closely with her home church. The band, who must be getting used to changing vocalists by now, are looking for a vocalist who can also take part in their high energy visual performance. British and Irish Acts at Christmas Rock Night (13th Sep 2000)

Delirious? will put in their second appearance at Germany's Christmas Rock Night this December, the event's 21st anniversary. They'll be joined by fellow Britlinks acts Fono, Psalmistry, BottleRockit and CRN favourites The Electrics. This year will be the first in 15 that Split Level will not play at CRN, but Adrian Thompson will be present to share details of some of his musical plans.

Psalmistry Need Aspiring Film Stars (13th Jul 2000)

Psalmistry, whose new album All This Noise is released any day now and who have just been added to the lineup for this year's Greenbelt Festival, have recently received funding to make their first video. They have arranged for a director to film with them in Bristol on Saturday August 5th, but they need people to help build up a crowd scene. If you would like to be part of that crowd e-mail the band with the subject line "VIDEO EXTRAS" and they'll send you more details.

Psalmistry Make Some Noise (01st Jun 2000)

The new Psalmistry album will be All This Noise... and is reputed to show influences from artists such as Basement Jaxx, Moby, Asian Dub Foundation, The Prodigy and Travis (?!?). New vocalist Debbie has stepped in to take over from Lucy Britten (now with V-Enna) and this album is said to be more song-oriented than its predecessor. It will be available from July 3rd through ICC in the UK and Europe. The US release date will follow soon.

New Album Plans from Psalmistry (02nd May 2000)

Recently returned from a youth conference in Madrid, Psalmistry have also been going down well in the USA. Their album has been featured on listening posts in Virgin and Tower Records in New York and Chicago, and the band hope to tour the US before long. Meanwhile the second Psalmistry album is well on its way. It will be distributed in the USA by N-Soul and to the UK and European Christian market by ICC.

Psalmistry'sArmchair Rebellion recently received a mainstream release inthe USA thanks to the expansion of N-Soul Records. Iain Archer hasannounced his engagement to long-time girlfriend MiriamKaufmann. Brew iscurrently on hold. Booley will be joiningMaire Brennanon her current UK tour as support act. BottleRockit'sAngel On A Vespa is now available in any Our Price cataloguenumber brcd002. The latest issue of the CCM fanzine NeverFor Nothing (produced by Geoff Howlett) isnow available. Psalmistry Night at the Thekla (21st Apr 1999)

Psalmistry are putting together a night at the Thekla, Bristol to showcase tunes from their latest release, Armchair Rebellion. Tickets are only £3 for the event which will take place on May 3rd and will also feature a support artist and a DJ set from Johnny Casswell.

Psalmistry Stages Armchair Rebellion (24th Feb 1999)

Psalmistry's debutfull-length album, Armchair Rebellion is now available in the UKand Europe after quite a delay. They say their tunes are akin to Prodigy,Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim.

Psalmistry Prepare For A Big Year (30th Dec 1998)

The much delayed new album from dance act Psalmistry, Armchair Rebellion, is now recorded and the final production touches are being put to it before the UK release through Word Records. On the European mainland the albu, will be released on the Extreme Devotion label and it will probably have distribution in Australia and South Africa. The album has twelve tracks and will include the single "By Your Side". The group also have live dates coming up including: 23rd January, Planet Life with WWMT; 31st January in Brighton; and 6th February at Sublime in Southampton. Exciting autumn in store for Psalmistry (09th Sep 1998)

Psalmistry have been busyworking on a compilation album to raise money for House The Youth 2000.From humble beginnings, the album is now set to include Fat Boy Slim,Portishead, Fun Loving Criminals, Asian Dub Foundation, Boy George, PeteTony, and Sasha, alongside Hydro, Matt Redman, and, of course, Psalmistry.The album, to be called Streetwise will be launched on 25th Octoberat Ministry Of Sound, London. The group's lineup has changed slightly,with Lucy (back from Storm) and Helen (formerly with S'Dance) on vocals.The group hope to have a new album out in November with distributionthrough the UK and Europe with Word and hopefully distribution furtherafield.
