The H3 Christian Music Festival is a new event launching this year in Milton Keynes. Running over the 22nd and 23rd June 2002, the event is being run as a benefit for the Bridgebuilder trust who work to promote the gospel in the schools of Milton Keynes. Bands booked so far include Kato, Bryn Haworth, As If..., Bell Jar, Cathy Burton, cult Greenbelt favourite Griff Pilchard and a range of others. The organisers promise camping facilities for 300, great food and drink, craft stalls, record/book shop, quiet area, Sunday morning services, and a relaxed atmosphere. Tickets are now available at all St Andrews Bookshops, priced at £15 to the end of March and £25 thereafter. Tickets also available by post from the address in our festivals listings.
BottleRockit are the latest band to announce a big tour. The band, who have recently become a four piece with the addition of a second guitarist, will be playing dozens of dates across the country over the coming months. They follow the example of Kato and Kindle who are currently in the middle of the "Welcome To Our World Tour". Dates for both tours are in our gig guide.
Plans have emerged for a festival next year in Milton Keynes, to feature Kato, Bell Jar and others. Check out our discussion boards to find the announcement. Rodney Cordner and Jean-Pierre Rudolph have released a CD "Milestones" to celebrate 20 years playing and touring together. Alex Robertson is working on new album due for release before end of the year. 2bc have their first CD, still don't know, out now. A track from the CD is available from download through their page at britlinks. 3rd Day Rising have a track on the Barclay James Harvest tribute album, Everyone by Everbody Else . They've done a rearrangement of 'Hymn'. Marilla Ness has been voted International Artist of the Year and her best selling album 'Holy One of Israel' has received the accolade of International Album of the Year at the first ever UCMVA (United Catholic Music and Video Association) unity awards held at the Catholic University in Washington DC.
Gloucester Guildhall will be the location for a specialshowcase for the new Elevation label and the Greenbeltfestival. The event, which takes place on Juky 27th willfeature Kato,
Kato took some time out of their Spring Harvest tour to appear on ITV's Sunday Morning last weekend. They're currently promoting their Welcome To My World album. Superhero will be appearing on TV twice during May, on the Alpha Zone (Channel 5) on the 6th and on Eikon (ITV) on the 20th. Superhero have been recording more demos recently and are currently pushing them to record companies. IndigoEcho will appear on Eikon this Sunday.
Billing itself as "the new home of Britain's alternative Christian music", ICC's new Elevation label have announced plans for a showcase event at Gloucester Guildhall in July featuring Kato, BottleRockit and Psalmistry. Kato's Welcome To My World has been selling well at Spring Harvest and BottleRockit's new single, See You In Space Tonight single has just released as a taster for the album due later in the year. Kato and BottleRockit will be supporting All Star United in London in May and are both booked for this year's Greenbelt festival.
Greenbelt has announced an initial lineup including chart act the Dum Dums, celtic favourites Iona, Sarah Masen, Switchfoot, Ben Castle, Martyn Joseph, BottleRockit, Kato, Kendall Payne, and Salvation Street. The festival's next lot of publicity is due to begin arriving on doorsteps this week and lots more names as well as big developments for the festival website are promised over the coming months
Kato have now completed work on Welcome To My World, their first album on Elevation Records. The album officially launches on April 4th but fans can pre-order the album to get a third off the retail price by e-mailing the band. Keith Ayling has been invited to Spring Harvest to do a songwriting workshop during the event's first week.
Kato are just about done recording their new album. The album, which will be released on the new Elevation label set up by ICC, also features Paul Heyman on strings. The band will be doing a tour of Spring Harvest venues before heading to Canada for a short tour there. Their previous album Seasider is still selling well in the states and the band now have some copies to sell to anyone interested.
Kato are going into the studio on Friday to start work on their next album, due for release at Spring Harvest this year. The album will be released by ICC records on a new imprint and the deal is, according to the band, the biggest the label have ever negotiated with a band. The album will be produced by Dave Lynch, known most recently for his work with Toploader. The band say that live favourite "Die for you" will be on the album, complete with a "soaring string arrangement" setting the tone for the rest of the tracks. In other news, Kato's track "Superhero" from the US release of their Seasider album has reached the top ten of New York's NUSOUND radio station.
Kato's Seasider was released in the USA through Rhythm House at the end of October. We are now receiving unconfirmed reports that the band have signed with ICC Records to record a new album, which they'll be working on for the remainder of this year. The band are hoping to arrange a large UK tour for next April.
Tim Sherrington's new album Undone is now available. The former Electric Revival frontman recorded the album live a few months ago. Kato are beginning work on a new album, while still awaiting the US release of Seasider.
Blackpool's Kato havebeen asked to headline a festival in Frauenfeld, near Zurichover the August bank holiday weekend. They're disappointednot to be able to be at Greenbelt but a top slot at thisfestival drew them away. The band are still preparing forthe US release of Seasider which will include fournew tracks.
Lancashire's Kato are planning a university tour for this coming autumn, while they prepare for the US release of their album Seasider. Universities will be given the option of either a full set or an acoustic show. Contact the band if you'd like to reserve a date.
Kato have struck a deal with True Tunes Records/Rhythm House (a label who have already distributed releases by Terl Bryant and Dave Fitzgerald) to distribute a revised version of their Seasider EP. The seven original tracks will be joined by four more to make a full album. Kato's song "Superhero" has been shortlisted in the international songwriting competition "Unisong". Frontman Keith Ayling told us "Getting to the finals has given Kato welcome worldwide exposure and respect for the quality of the material we're writing".
Popular Lancashire act Katohave signed a management deal with Event Management Services who also manage Why? and Split Level.
Mike of Eden Burning fame has been playing with Blackpool based Kato for the past year. That band hope to put together a new recording later in the year.
