Dust have recently signed with a management and production company who have been helping them record a number of new songs. They're recording again early this month and say that the new songs are "rocking". The band will be gigging a number of times through January, particularly in and around London. The band are, however, mourning the death of their van.
Greenbelt have announced their full lineup in their latest publicity mailings and web site updates which have appeared this week. Headline music acts will be Over The Rhine, Jazz Jamaica All Stars, Faith Folk and Anarchy (Martyn Joseph, Tom Robinson, Steve Knightley) and Delirious??. Also on the music bill are Steve Lawson and Jez Carr (our current featured album), Kevin Max (dc talk), Cephas, Green Jade, Earthsuit, My BottleRockit, Dust, Cathy Burton, Steve, Kosher, Abundant, Ben Okafor, Lies Damned Lies, Airstar, Bell Jar, All Star United, Psalmistry, Julie Lee and many others. Dust have relaunched their website after a long wait. The new site contains clips from their new mini-album Invisible as well as photos, news, gig dates, and so on. The band are appearing on XFM tonight, playing "In A Corner Of My Mind", a track from Invisible on The Works show.
Dust have been playing live more regularly lately and have a new mini-album available. Entitled Invisible, the record was produced by Paul Burton who also worked on the band's Spirit EP. The band describe it as "a lavish feast of lashing guitars, driving grooves and bowel-loosening bass". The seven track recording is available for ten pounds from the band.
Secret Archives of the Vatican are still awaiting the release of the Freedom Music Compilation CD which is to feature their track "We Will Not Hate (Progressive Christian Death Punk Mix)". The album is also due to feature Fono, Ashen Mortality, Dust, Careless, Splat, Why Not Wednesday, Elishe, D'original and Focused on Freedom. No release date has yet been announced, but we'll bring you more details as soon as we can.
Josh Jones played his last gig as bass player with Dust in September. He's subsequently been replaced by Birmingham-based Nicko. The band have been busy touring Poland, initially with death metal act "None" and later supporting "2 Timothy 2,3". The band are currently reviewing live footage recorded on their tour of the Czech Republic in March for a possible live album. They're also hoping to record some new tracks with producer Paul Burton in December.
St. Alban's based Dust are currently gigging about once a week at Christian events around the UK, but plan to spend a month during the summer playing to audiences in Eastern Europe, hoping to spread the gospel to the largely non-Christian audiences they will be playing to. The band have recently appointed a new manager.
Formula 7 have just launched an e-mail newsletter and announced that they are working on a website. They say that their CD Sometimes You Fall Before You Can Fly... is selling well. The band will be playing alongside Dust and Audacity at an event called Passion 2k on the 8th July. Look out for details of it in the gig guide. To sign up for the newsletter, e-mail the band.
Dust have recently returned from their third tour of the Czech Republic. The Czech audiences were very receptive of their brand of hard-rock and some of the gigs have been recorded for possible release as a live album. A new Dust website is due shortly.
A review of the new album by dba is now available from their website. No release date has yet been set for the album, which is titled Spectrum. Dust have shut down their website while they work on a new one. Restore My Soul is the new album from Johnny Markin available now through ICC. Mark Houston tells us that he is part of a new band called m.e.r.c.y lead formed by former members of Pray Naked, Jubal and Red. The sound is described as "more blues than alternative, but still edgy"
Rock/dance crossover band Hyperdust have changed their name to Urban Militia. Now focussing more on intense dance styles, the group are working on preparing their website and some recordings.
Dust have released the follow-up to their See Red EP. Titled Spirit, the EP was recorded with delirious? side-kick Paul Burton at Ground Zero in Littlehampton. The band will be appearing on Channel 5's The Alpha Zone on the 27th June. The show kicks off at 8.30am and also features Sam Fox.
