Greenbelt Announces Full Lineup (03rd Jul 2002)

Greenbelt have announced their full lineup in their latest publicity mailings and web site updates which have appeared this week. Headline music acts will be Over The Rhine, Jazz Jamaica All Stars, Faith Folk and Anarchy (Martyn Joseph, Tom Robinson, Steve Knightley) and Delirious??. Also on the music bill are Steve Lawson and Jez Carr (our current featured album), Kevin Max (dc talk), Cephas, Green Jade, Earthsuit, My BottleRockit, Dust, Cathy Burton, Steve, Kosher, Abundant, Ben Okafor, Lies Damned Lies, Airstar, Bell Jar, All Star United, Psalmistry, Julie Lee and many others. H3 Festival (16th Mar 2002)

The H3 Christian Music Festival is a new event launching this year in Milton Keynes. Running over the 22nd and 23rd June 2002, the event is being run as a benefit for the Bridgebuilder trust who work to promote the gospel in the schools of Milton Keynes. Bands booked so far include Kato, Bryn Haworth, As If..., Bell Jar, Cathy Burton, cult Greenbelt favourite Griff Pilchard and a range of others. The organisers promise camping facilities for 300, great food and drink, craft stalls, record/book shop, quiet area, Sunday morning services, and a relaxed atmosphere. Tickets are now available at all St Andrews Bookshops, priced at £15 to the end of March and £25 thereafter. Tickets also available by post from the address in our festivals listings.

Tidbits (24th Nov 2001)

Plans have emerged for a festival next year in Milton Keynes, to feature Kato, Bell Jar and others. Check out our discussion boards to find the announcement. Rodney Cordner and Jean-Pierre Rudolph have released a CD "Milestones" to celebrate 20 years playing and touring together. Alex Robertson is working on new album due for release before end of the year. 2bc have their first CD, still don't know, out now. A track from the CD is available from download through their page at britlinks. 3rd Day Rising have a track on the Barclay James Harvest tribute album, Everyone by Everbody Else . They've done a rearrangement of 'Hymn'. Marilla Ness has been voted International Artist of the Year and her best selling album 'Holy One of Israel' has received the accolade of International Album of the Year at the first ever UCMVA (United Catholic Music and Video Association) unity awards held at the Catholic University in Washington DC.

New Indie of the Month (06th Jun 2001)

A few days late, I know, but its here now... The indie of the month for June is Bell Jar's fabulous second album, On The Outside Looking In. As ever we have MP3s, RealAudio and copies to give away. Thanks to all those who entered last month...

Bell Jar Looking In (14th May 2001)

Bell Jar have just completed their second album and it releases today, with a launch party at JD Pepper's in Cheltenham to follow next month. The album is made up of the four tracks from their last EP and six new recordings, including a reworking of an old Eden Burning hidden track. The sleeve has been designed by Dan Donovan and the album launch will be followed by a number of shows, including slots at the Summer Madness, Cheltenham Fringe and Greenbelt festivals. The album is available for 11 pounds including postage direct from the band or with their last album, Secret Volcanoes for 16 pounds the pair.

Tidbits (04th Apr 2001)

Bell Jar are the latest act to have their recordings on sale at the Sounds Good online shop. Troy Donockley was recently in the audience for "This Is Your Life" when Bob Geldof got a chance to get his own back on Midge Ure. Troy is just starting a month-long UK tour with Maddy Prior. project3 have released their first EP, Better Times.

Bell Jar Fly On (30th Aug 2000)

Flying Low is the new EP from Bell Jar, released at Greenbelt as a taster for their forthcoming second album which is expected within the next few months. Live MP3 versions of the tracks on the EP are available through the band's website.

Bell Jar Recording (25th Jul 2000)

Bell Jar are to release the EP follow-up to last year's Secret Volcano at this year's Greenbelt festival. The EP will then be developed in the early autumn into a second album. There will be a discount available on the full album for those who buy the EP. The band have also put a number of live MP3s onto their website, taken from their show at the Borderline with Vigilantes of Love.

Bell Jar Return to FFG (07th May 2000)

Bell Jar recently returned to FFG in Gloucestershire, the studios where they recorded their Secret Volcanoes album last year. They have recorded two new tracks, "It Hurts" and "One Needle" which are now in the hands of Jeff Spencer who is mixing them and the band hope to send out demos to various music industry contacts over the next few months. If there has not been solid label interest by the autumn, they hope to record a second independent album. Bell Jar will be touring with Vigilantes of Love in late May/early June and will appear at this year's Greenbelt festival.

Flow Settles (24th Nov 1999)

Flow are settling into their new lineup well and have several gigs coming up. A recent set at the Monarch in Camden saw them trying out some new material and adding the odd keyboard sound and backing track to their sound. The band have shows in Cheltenham and Oxford this week, and are playing next Tuesday in Putney with Bell Jar and Iain Archer.

Iain Archer Gigs (10th Nov 1999)

Iain Archer will be playing live a couple of times in the next month. The first show will be with his new band Brew on the 24th November at London's Kashmir Club, and the second will be a solo set along with Bell Jar and Flow at the Half Moon in Putney.

Edens In A Bell Jar (05th Aug 1999)

The debut album from Bell Jar is called Secret Volcanoes and is available now. Bell Jar is a band featuring, among others, Paul Northup and Charlotte Ayrton, both former members of Eden Burning. The band's live set at Greenbelt revealed a laid back, sophisticated pop sound coupled with Northup's distinctive vocals.

Featuring Charlotte Ayrton (05th May 1999)

Vigilantes of Love will be returning to these shores to appear at the Greenbelt festival, and will follow this appearance with a UK tour. Due for release soon is an acoustic EP which features Charlotte Ayrton, a former member of Eden Burning. The EP is expected to be released around the beginning of July.

Bell Jar (10th Feb 1999)

Paul Northup and Charlotte Ayrton, former Eden Burning folks, have a name for their new group, Bell Jar. Look out for more information very soon.
