Ultimate Events, the group behind the annual festival at Alton Towers which we've mentioned before are this year running a battle of the bands competition that has attracted hundreds of entries from unsigned bands around the UK. The prize consists of £1000, studio recording time and an opening slot at next year's Alton Towers event. The guys who run the Halcyon event have teamed up with Ultimate Events to host the the web voting on their website. Sibling report that they have reached the semi-finals of the competition, along with As If..., Exalt, Rain, Frequency and 3 Second Memory.
Acoustic rock band 3 Second Memory have just released their second EP, World Outside. The band, who are currently relocating from Devon to Birmingham so as to be able to tour more effectively, will be appearing at Greenbelt on stage 2. The EP will be available at Greenbelt or via mail order.
Yet another act with a new record about ready to go (remember a few months ago when everyone seemed to be going into the studio?) is Plymouth-based 3 Second Memory whose new five track EP will feature artwork from Oxford based artist Tim Steward. The band's headquarters is also set to move soon from Plymouth to Birmingham.
3 Second Memory are preparing to record their second EP. They plan to spend the middle of March tucked away in a studio in St. Austell, Cornwall, recording a five track followup to their self-titled debut and would appreciate prayer as they don't know their way around Cornwall... Details of the tracks to be included on the EP are available through the band's website.
Jonny Parks is currently inEastbourne, laying down tracks at ICCstudios for his debut solo album. Delirious? have beennominated for two Dove Awards: "Rock RecordedSong" for the track Gravity, and "Modern Rock/Alternative Album of theyear" for Mezzamorphis. The video for "It's OK" has been playlistedby MTV Europe. Tribe of Dan were asked tostep in after Bernard Butler had topull out of his scheduled appearance at Ronnie Scott's in Birmingham. Tenth Leper are celebratingthe launch of their new album, ReturnedWith Thanks. SecretArchives of the Vatican have been hard at work studying themusic of myriad cultures as they prepare to release their second CD. Theysay the new album will be "more ethnic, but also dancier" and are planningto invest in some new recording equipment to help them on their way. IndigoEcho have managed toget their new album, One distributedto all the HMV stores in Scotland as well as into their local VirginMegastore. A lot of opportunities seem to be opening up for the band, onthe same Room 3 Records label as
