da capo
da capo was formed in 1999 when a group of us got together to play for a monthly informal evening service at Great Ayton Methodist Church in North Yorkshire. We still lead worship regularly at our own and other churches and are delighted to offer ourselves to congregations of any denomination. da capo soon branched out into playing original songs in a variety of venues, such as pubs, clubs, private parties and churches. We entertain with a lively programme of music and stories appropriate to the occasion, from a Christian perspective, subtle if necessary. We are always happy to play somewhere new! Singer/songwriter Sheila Blair is a Geordie in origin and an accomplished self-taught guitarist who first performed in the Newcastle pub circuit. She has been writing songs for as long as she can remember. Kate Harvie sings harmony and plays fiddle and viola. Classically trained with a background of Scottish traditional folk music (although Yorkshire born), she also plays viola in the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra. Kate is married to Jamie who plays bass, hand drums and percussion and looks after all the technical stuff. Jamie has also engineered our recordings. He originates from Aberdeenshire. Peter Mitchinson is our drummer. A keen Boro supporter and native of Middlesbrough, if dragged to rehearsals on a match day he will follow the score on his mobile! Any spare hands play keyboard, whistles, mandolin or percussion.
