Dan Donovan
1993. The album TRASHBONE THANG released by scottish independants Sticky Music, hailed Donovan?s solo career. Kerrang magazine claimed that it must have been recorded under the influence of mulled wine and candlelight. 1995. Donovan released DUST SHAKER acclaimed in Mojo as "Funky, sinister and impenetrable". January 98, Dan became completely acoustic. The English Fen dweller released his third solo album, THE LEAVEN DELL. The Leaven Dell presented a song writer settled and comfortable with darkness and mystery that seems to have haunted this man since the initial demise of his band Tribe of Dan back in 1992. Now totally rejuvenated and electric once more Donovan still remains difficult to bag, but on his latest project he sits comfortably somewhere around The Pixies, Tom Waites and Death in Vegas.
Dan Donovan confirms that we could be right in thinking that he had taken an early hibernation this year. His work at his design studio has borrowed his focus this summer but all is not over on the musical front. Dan has started working on a "session bootleg style" album and rehearsal and recording is now underway, with a view to some gigging later this year and early 03. Pas and Higgs from The Ghears are involved with the new project entitled Dan Donovan's Ga-Rage. He describes the outcome of this three piece as "pure fat and dirty garage (old style) guitar driven music". Independent Armadillo Records are putting out a compilation album this year and will feature 'kiss the star' taken off Dan Donovan The Hex The Ghears album.
