Angel Orange
This 4 piece "indiefolkfunkrockgospelgrungalism" band, started when they responded to subliminal messages from a Larry Norman LP - "we all heard the call at the same time" says guitarist Si Burge, "it went like 'egnarolivna dellac dnab a mrof llahs uoy' or backwards - you shall form a band called anvilorange" - but we didn't like the anvil bit - too typecast stylistically for us!" Aged 8, Luke Willcocks (vovals / guitar) tried his hand(s!) at piano, but fell out with the teacher after 2 lessons. Subsequent guitar strumming led to blisters and he became a consumer, rather than a maker, of quality tunes. It wasn't until his move to Nottingham some 20 years later that his latent songwriting abilities began to come to the fore. Enter Si Burge - guitarist extra-ordinaire and a man of many passions, but his chief desire being to help those even more broke than he is! The jam sessions soared into the early hours. Luke played a few pub events with musos from Trent Vineyard that included the talented cymbal basher: Roo Machell. Roo has an incredible capacity for Pro-tools and like most drummers he is dependent on others to cart his gear around because his BMX is still in the shop for repairs. Last but never least, Safe Dave (David Hunt) recently joined the angelorange bandwagon. Officially he's THE health and safety expert on the team and occasionally plucks bass strings. Dave carries out safety checks both before and after plugging in his instrument and one hopes this will enable the rest of the band enjoy relatively accident-free lives for the foreseeable future!
